Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we look after it, and what rights you have. It covers children as well as adults, because most of our students are minors.
Who we are
Madina Teaching Institute is an online Quran academy based in Pakistan, teaching students in Pakistan and internationally. Our website is madinateaching.com.
For any question about this policy or your data, contact madinateaching@gmail.com or WhatsApp +92 320 9851549.
Registered legal entity: [[FILL: registered business name and address, if you have one; otherwise state that you trade as an individual]]
Information we collect
We only ask for what we actually need to arrange and deliver lessons:
- Parent or guardian details: name, email address, WhatsApp number and country
- Student details: first name, age, gender, current level of Quran reading and the course you are interested in
- Scheduling information: your time zone and preferred days and times
- Anything you write to us: messages sent through our forms, WhatsApp or email
- Payment records: we keep a record that a payment was made. We do not store card numbers, and we never ask for them by message
- Basic technical data: your browser type and approximate region, collected by our hosting and analytics for security and traffic measurement
We do not collect more than this, and we do not ask students for personal information during lessons.
Children and parental consent
Most of our students are under 18, and many are under 13. We deal with this directly:
- Enquiries about a child must be made by a parent or legal guardian, not by the child
- Our forms include a consent checkbox that the parent or guardian must tick before submitting
- We collect the minimum about a child: first name, age, gender and reading level
- We do not ask children for contact details, addresses, school names or photographs
- We do not create accounts for children or send marketing to them
- A parent may ask to see, correct or delete their child’s information at any time, and we will act on that
- A parent may sit in on any lesson at any time, without asking us first
If you believe we hold information about a child without proper parental consent, contact madinateaching@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Why we are allowed to use your information
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, our lawful bases are:
- Consent — for enquiry forms and any marketing messages. You may withdraw consent at any time
- Contract — to arrange and deliver the lessons you have signed up for
- Legitimate interests — to keep our site secure, prevent spam and keep basic business records
- Legal obligation — where we must keep financial records
Lessons, recording and privacy during class
Lessons are one to one between a student and a female teacher. We do not record lessons without the explicit permission of the parent or adult student. Students may keep their camera off; the teacher needs to hear recitation, not to see the student.
Video call platform used: [[FILL: which platform you use for lessons, e.g. Zoom, Google Meet, Skype]]. That provider has its own privacy policy which applies to the call itself.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with:
- The teacher assigned to your lessons, so she can teach and schedule
- Our website hosting provider, which stores the site and its database
- Our video call provider, for the lesson itself
- Payment providers, where you choose to pay through them
- Anyone we are legally required to disclose to
Because we are based in Pakistan, information about students in the UK, EU or elsewhere is transferred to and stored in Pakistan. If you are in the UK or EU, that is a transfer outside your region. We rely on your explicit consent for this, and we protect the information as described here.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become lessons: [[FILL: retention period, e.g. 12 months]]
- Active student records: for as long as the student attends, plus [[FILL: retention period after leaving]]
- Financial records: as long as tax law requires
- Website analytics: [[FILL: analytics retention period]]
When a retention period ends, we delete the information or anonymise it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you or your child
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
- Ask us to delete it
- Ask us to restrict or stop using it
- Withdraw consent you previously gave
- Receive a copy in a portable format
- Complain to your data protection regulator
To exercise any of these, email madinateaching@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not hand a child’s information to the wrong person.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies that are necessary for it to function, and may use analytics cookies to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Analytics cookies are only set if you agree.
Analytics tool in use: [[FILL: analytics tool, e.g. Google Analytics, or state none]]
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, administrator access is limited and password protected, and login attempts are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your information we will tell you and the relevant regulator as required by law.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Significant changes affecting current students will be sent to you directly.
